Once again it has been very difficult to pick the worthiest entry, with such a wide range of differing approaches. Thanks to everyone who “hatted” their window – it does add such a lot to the atmosphere throughout the town at HatFest time.
- However, a winner there has to be – and this year we have awarded the trophy to Bell Antiques whose display of antique Victorian glass hats was both unusual and intriguing.
- Runner up was Waste Not Want Not whose ingenuity in constructing a whale from plastic packaging (complete with packing tape fascinator) was felt to be very topical and highlights a major environmental crisis that could affect us all.
- Third prize was awarded to Instant Redress for a very colourful display which went the “extra mile” with its very own hat competition!
