The Hat Festival awards event was held at the Ropemakers on Thursday 20th November, both to remember Sheena O’donoghue and to celebrate this year’s successes which Sheena did so much to achieve.
Jacqui Lovett thanked everyone who had helped this year and given their support under such difficult and sad circumstances. Jacqui took over as Chairman from Sheena who passed away peacefully on the 22nd September 2019, aged 60 years. The Hat Festival wishes Sheena’s memory to continue with the introduction of a ‘Best HatFest Photograph’ competition for the 2020 event, to be named after her. Entries should be uploaded to the HatFest website and will be adjudicated by an independent judge. Conforming to her family’s wishes, a donation to Bowel Cancer Research, of £200 will also be made.
£500 will be donated to both the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust and Brain Tumour Research and £100 to local performing arts organisation No Limits Bridport . Because of Jacqui’s association with the Rotary Club of Brit Valley, who provided the tea tent at Millennium Green, £600 would be donated to Dementia UK, the Rotarian President’s charity this year
