We were also shocked to hear of the death of milliner Isabelle Mazzitelli, who had been battling with cancer for a year. Apart from her two grownup children, millinery and hat making dominated Isabelle’s whole life. Isabelle loved couture millinery and idolised Marie O’Regan, and up to last year organised Marie’s classes and trips for her to art events in London. Isabelle also worked part-time for Jane Smith and loved sitting on her stand at exhibitions. She loved the hat festivals: Bridport, where she always had a stand, and one year gave a talk on cocktail hats, and last year was one of the judges for the competition; and Caussade where she had a stand for two years, and received a prize in the competition on both occasions. Isabelle was truly an international milliner, with friends from all over the world, and enjoyed every moment she spent talking about hats and the making of them. She will be sadly missed.
